this & that

ok, so obviously blogging hasn't been my strong point lately.
and i have way to much to share.
so i'll just give ya bits and pieces of what life has been like.

strawberry picking at a hydroponic strawberry farm. way cool.

 farmer bryann

packing. lots of packing. packed for vegas. {sorry, no pics} and the next weekend packed again for 2 for a fabulous girls weekend.

 flew to reno.
all ready with her boarding pass.

 and then she flew the plane :) {not really, but she was chosen by the pilot himself to sit in his chair before the flight}

 landed safe and sound.

 toes in the snow.
then 20 minutes later...

 toes in the sand.

and lots and lots of chilling with these loves.

quick and brief.
so much coming up as well, i hope that i'll be better at blogging 'em ;)

spring

spring is all around & we are loving every single second of it
when it's nice & sunny we're at the beach
when it's cool & breezy we are riding around on our local town trolley
and when it's cold & rainy we are cozy inside

spring brings sunny days & rainy weather
bright flowers & birds chirping

all photos were taken in my oma's backyard

eight is great

our little man turned eight while i was taking a hiatus from blogging.
little man scored big time!!
from basketballs to basket hoops
from itunes gift cards to cash
what 8 year wouldn't want to be showered with these things on his birthday?

and to be an eight year old who is truly 100% appreciative of what he has... he is a special one i tell ya
he still has that heart of gold
he still has that "i love to cuddle with mommy" moments
he knows that he has a blessed little life

all the love for my sammy bear makes my heart swell with joy that people see what i see in him. a special, cool, friendly, smart little man.
we love you!

hippie headband

abby was begging me to put this ribbon in her hair for weeks!
{see it's off of a birthday present, and i was trying to save it in my wrapping supplies, but that didn't happen}
i found inspiration one day to crochet the ribbon (single chain) into a hippie head band for her.
the result...
{and don't let the picture fool you... she totally rocks this, i was just the only head to put it on after i was done}

happy tuesday!

ahh. tuesday morning. sitting. drinking my coffee. no interruptions. i can't even remember the last time i sat in silence.
the kids are off at school. i got an unexpected day off {yup, no work at all}. and i am sitting in silence drinking my cup of coffee with york peppermint creamer. yum. did i tell you it is quiet? ;)
what should i do? catch up on housework? maybe craft? or just sit, be lazy, & look at pretty stuff on pinterest?
do you see the beauty in this people!? i can do whatever i want in the short 3 hours i have :)

I think i'll catch up on a few household chores, and then i'll see what kind of craft i want to start.
the weather is gloomy and cold.
perfect day to have off.
perfect day to be inside.
perfect day to maybe make a second pot of coffee.
perfect day to light candles and smell the house up so yummy {currently burning french vanilla}.
perfect. perfect. perfect.

hope all you out there have a fantastic tuesday!
thank you for listening to me brag that i am sitting. in silence. ahh.

mason jar candle holder

this is such an easy & elegant project

supplies needed:
tissue paper (any color you desire)
doilies (optional)
foam brush
scissors
mason jar
mod podge

step one:
cut strips of your tissue paper {about 1-2 inches wide} to length needed for your jar, leave about 1 1/2 in at the top.

step two:
place on outside of mason jar and coat with mod podge
continue this step until the whole jar is covered.

step three:
fold down the excess tissue paper around the lip of the mason jar and mod podge away

step four:
place doilies anywhere on the jar, and mod podge those babies

step five:
wait until mod podge dries completely
 {i did another coat of mod podge all over after it was dry, but it is not necessarily needed}

step six:
after your jar is dry pick your favorite candle {for best results i recommend using a votive with a votive holder} to light. sit back and enjoy the elegant lighting that it creates.

i had made this for her for her birthday & was so delighted when she sent me this pic :)

and there ya have it.
